Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)

is a core value at BGC

The Pillars

1. INCLUSION:

All people have

economic potential.

2. EMPOWERMENT:

Everyone deserves access

to the tools for growth.

3. LEADERSHIP:

Cultivating local leadership

leads to resilient solutions.

All training is infused

with GESI principles.

4. TRAINING:

Solutions informed by local

knowledge foster ownership.

5. RESPECT:

insights:

Intersectionality

People don't experience life through just one identity.   A woman may belong to an ethnic minority, live with a disability, or be part of the LGBTQ+ community, and these experiences combine to create unique challenges and opportunities. Good programs recognize those realities instead of treating everyone the same.

Women

While GESI embraces inclusion broadly, it does not diminish the importance of women. Empowering women remains one of the most effective ways to strengthen families, communities, and local economies. We work with women as leaders, entrepreneurs, workers, and decision-makers, recognizing and honoring their diverse strengths and experiences.

Handicrafts is uniquely positioned to include people often excluded from traditional employment with flexible, skill-driven opportunities.  In addition, a vital handicrafts sector creates  many related jobs such as in transport,  marketing,  procurement, production management, and more, that youth and others could gainfully fulfill.

More Jobs
Men and Boys

We consider the impacts on men and boys and engage them as partners to ensure more inclusive and resilient communities. Everyone must be honored, including men and boys.
